This is a retreat like no other – As women of color are increasingly rising to the top of the ladder to lead meaningful work in the field of philanthropy and other sectors, there is increasing recognition of the unique challenges we face navigating spaces of power and influence. The body of research highlighting the isolation experienced by women of color in leadership is well documented.
The goal of the ABFE Women in Philanthropy (WIP) Leadership Retreat is to provide a close, trusted circle of advisors and colleagues to support Black women in the field as they strive to balance their roles as good stewards of resources while leveraging those resources to the fullest extent to target needs in Black communities.
The Retreat is designed to promote the overall health and wellbeing of attendees by offering strategic career consultation and planning, leadership development and coaching, and facilitated respite. Time is dedicated to delving into the issues, barriers, strengths, and opportunities we face in our roles. Each year, the Retreat grows in participation and content, and we expect another transformative event with the virtual experience this year.
