There is growing awareness among funders about how deeply funding practices impact the power, voice, resilience and creativity of the communities they serve. Civil society organisations and activists require mission-oriented, flexible and long-term core support. However, mainstream funding practices still remain short-term and project-restricted.

What if philanthropy reimagined its funding practices and provided the real support that local communities and civil society organisations need to deliver change? What if funders engaged in new, more participatory ways of giving, based on trust and shared vision?

We live in times of multiple, unprecedented crises and social pressures – devastating war in Ukraine, backsliding democracies, disinformation campaigns, the erosion of trust in public institutions, migration, rising inequalities, and the climate crisis, among so many others. These crises call for true transformative change. Philanthropy has a unique opportunity to be bold and ambitious in sharing its power and resources.

We have designed this event so as to explore, build knowledge and inspire action. Our motivation is intentional learning and experimentation with questions and ideas. We will be joined by representatives of foundations, philanthropy networks, social movements, next gen as well as policymakers, technology experts, researchers and advocates for social change.

Together we can change minds, and we can start by changing ourselves.

Register before 21 March 2022.
