COVID-19, #BlackLivesMatter, #CharitySoWhite, Decolonizing Aid…The past 18 months have witnessed a period of unprecedented disruption in international aid and philanthropy. This disruption has re-energized long-standing critiques about how these systems operate, re-affirming the role of local civil society actors as essential frontline providers of humanitarian, economic or social assistance, and as defenders of human rights.

But has anything really changed? What new alliances and collaborations have emerged or become stronger? How are they organizing? How and where are they being seen and heard, and their influence being felt?

The #ShiftThePower network map was first launched at the 2019 “Pathways to Power” Symposium in London, a global event that brought together 100+ people from civil society, philanthropy and international development for a conversation about “new ways of doing and deciding.” Using the Pando platform, the map visualizes how local and international organizations are mobilizing and collaborating around topics such as community philanthropy, funding practices to shift power, re-imaging the INGO, localization and local ownership, and more. To date, it includes more than 380 organizations and 730 relationships.

THE INVITATION:

1. Join us for a conversation on the current state of the global ecosystem for systems change and shifting power – its strengthens & weaknesses, blockages and new opportunities on 14 July at 1 pm UTC!

2. Update your connections on the existing map. (New users are welcome to register below).
