Despite increasing attention during the pandemic, mental health does not get the attention the scale and seriousness of those who suffer from poor mental health deserve.
Many explanations have been given for this: the difficulty of diagnosis, the stigma mental illness can bring with it, the lack of a coordinated response from the medical and funding communities. In this virtual event, we’ll be exploring the current state of mental health philanthropy, and what can be done to better support the sector.
Among the questions participants will discuss are:
-
What is philanthropy currently doing to support better mental health?
-
How can it do more?
-
What are the obstacles to its doing so?
-
What should its main role be – funding advocacy, research, treatment, support for mental well-being generally – or a combination of all of these?
