The Comuá Network is pleased to announce the release of its new publication, “Social Movements and Philanthropy”, on December 4th. This research explores the role of Brazilian philanthropy in funding and supporting social movements.
Based on a literature review, interviews, and focus groups, the study examines how community philanthropy is already strengthening social movements, their self-funding strategies, the challenges they face, and the impact of philanthropic support on their work. It highlights differences in philanthropic approaches and the need for greater involvement of private social investment to strengthen social movements and promote significant social and political change.
