PhiLab’s Fall School “Fields of Philanthropy” aims to explore the role of philanthropy in the development of diverse geographic areas and fields of action, encompassing political, social, economic and cultural aspects.

By stimulating social innovation, strengthening human capital and boosting local economies, philanthropy offers interesting prospects for empowering territorial communities and improving the well-being of their populations.

During three days of exchange and reflection, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the link between philanthropy and the multiple dimensions of territories.
  • How can philanthropy contribute to regional development and social cohesion in a broader sense?
  • What influence does philanthropy have on economic, social and political dynamics in specific contexts?
  • How do philanthropic actors take social, cultural and geographical particularities into account in their grant-making initiatives?
  • How are the power relations between donor and recipient organizations composed or rearranged?
  • Do the fields of philanthropy adjust according to different forms of calls for social or ecological transition?
By bringing together experts, practitioners and researchers on these issues, the Fall School will stimulate reflection and identify concrete avenues for action for philanthropy that takes into account the multiple facets its fields.
