The OECD Centre on Philanthropy is pleased to invite you to the launch of the OECD research new open data and fresh perspectives on domestic philanthropic giving in South Africa. 

The event will convene domestic and international foundations working in South Africa as well as other actors, such as bilateral and multilateral donors and representative from the government, to unpack the priorities and nature of domestic philanthropy in South Africa, identify its comparative advantage, and explore partnership opportunities.

The discussion will focus on following perspectives:

  • What is the scope, scale, and diversity of domestic philanthropic flows in South Africa? How does domestic philanthropy compares to international philanthropy and official development flows?
  • How does domestic philanthropy support gender equality issues? 
  • How have recent legal reforms impacted the scope of activities and the diversity of philanthropic organisations and their support to local civil society?
